Now Welcoming Teen Clients (13–17)

Therapy for teens, on their terms.

Adolescence brings real pressure — school, friendships, identity, family, and a world that can feel like a lot to carry. Our therapists help teens build coping skills and feel more like themselves again.

Getting Started

What to expect, step by step.

1

Free Consultation

Reach out to schedule a no-cost consultation to see if we're the right fit.

2

First Session

Whenever possible, parent/guardian and teen attend together. If not, or there are safety concerns, the teen can come alone — we'll make the call case-by-case.

3

Ongoing Care

Sessions continue one-on-one between teen and therapist, with monthly parent check-ins as agreed.

How Confidentiality Works

Why Families Feel Safe With Us

How Consent Works

In Oregon, teens 14+ can consent to their own treatment; in Washington, that age is 13. Younger teens need parent consent.

What Stays Private

What's shared in session stays confidential — therapy works best when a teen can trust that space.

Monthly Parent Check-Ins

We ask that a parent or guardian be on board, and the teen agrees to a monthly progress check-in.

Extra Flexibility for LGBTQ+ Teens

For concerns tied to identity or a teen's safety, we can work case-by-case without parent involvement.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does my teen need therapy? +

If your teen is struggling with anxiety, big life changes, family or friend conflict, or just seems to be carrying more than usual, a consultation is a low-pressure way to find out if therapy could help.

Is therapy confidential for my teen? +

Yes, with a few boundaries. General progress is shared with parents monthly, but session content stays private — see "How Confidentiality Works" above for details.

What age do you start seeing teens? +

We see teens starting at age 13, up through 17. At 18, they can continue on as an adult client.

Do you take insurance for teen therapy? +

Yes — we accept the same commercial insurance and Medicaid plans we accept for adult clients, in both Oregon and Washington.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ or trans teens? +

Yes. Several of our therapists have experience supporting teens through identity and gender questions, and we can work case-by-case around parent involvement when needed.

Is therapy virtual or in-person? +

In-person sessions are available at our Portland office. We also offer virtual sessions across Oregon, and all sessions in Washington are virtual.
